Back and neck massage in Batumi: when you need a break and what to expect
Desk, phone, steering wheel, flights: why your back and neck get tired, how a session goes, 30 or 60 minutes, and when to see a doctor first.

Your neck feels stiff by evening, your shoulders have crept up towards your ears, and there seems to be an invisible stone lodged between your shoulder blades. Sound familiar? A back and neck massage in Batumi is one of the most natural requests there is: the back and neck are the first to take the strain of the working day, travel and stress.
Here is when this kind of session is especially welcome, how it goes, whether to choose 30 or 60 minutes, and when it is better to check with a doctor first.
When you want a back and neck massage
Tension usually builds up where the body stays in one position for a long time. These are the most common reasons.
- Desk work. Your head drifts slightly forward, your shoulders lift, and your back "sets" for the whole day.
- Your phone. We spend a lot of time looking down, and the neck carries that load for hours.
- Driving. A long drive, for example if you came to Batumi by car, is felt both in the shoulders and in the lower back.
- Flights. A few hours in an aeroplane seat and sleeping upright, and by the time you land your body feels stiff.
- Stress. When we are anxious, our shoulders tense and rise on their own, often without us noticing.
If you recognise yourself in even one of these, a back, neck and shoulders massage is a good way to breathe out and feel lighter again.
How the session goes
Before you start
Pavel will ask how you are feeling, where the tension is worst and what pressure feels comfortable. Do mention any injuries, chronic conditions or pregnancy, as this matters when choosing the technique.
During the massage
You lie on the massage table while quiet music plays and aromatherapy fills the room. The work covers the back, neck, shoulders and the area around the shoulder blades: first the muscles are gently warmed up, then the tightest spots are worked through with care. You can change the pressure and pace at any time; just say if you would like it softer or firmer.
Afterwards
Don't rush to get up. Sit for a minute or two and have some water or tea. The studio has a shower, towels and disposable slippers, so you can freshen up before you leave. It is best not to plan a hard workout that day and to let your body rest.
Back and neck massage in Batumi: 30 or 60 minutes
Serenity offers two options for the back, neck and shoulders massage.
- 30 minutes — 60 GEL. Good if you are short on time or want to focus on the neck and shoulders. Easy to fit into a break or before a walk around town.
- 60 minutes — 100 GEL. Unhurried work on the whole back, neck and shoulders. The best choice if tension has been building for a while or if this is your first session.
If it is not just your back but your whole body that feels tired, take a look at classic massage: it covers the whole body and lasts 60 or 90 minutes.
How often to come
There is no single rule; a lot depends on your lifestyle and how you feel. Here are some guidelines.
- If you spend long hours at a computer or travel often, many people find it convenient to come every 1–2 weeks during busy periods.
- To simply keep feeling good, one session every 2–4 weeks is often enough.
- Your own sensations are the best guide: if you feel lighter after a session and the feeling lasts, you are on the right track.
If you plan to come regularly, a package is better value: 5 sessions with 10% off, 10 sessions with 20% off. Packages are arranged at the studio.
If it hurts, see a doctor first
At our studio, massage is about rest, easing tension and recovery. It is not a substitute for treatment. If what bothers you is actual pain rather than tiredness, it is better to talk to a doctor first, especially if:
- the pain is sharp or started after an injury, a fall or a sudden movement;
- numbness or tingling runs down into your arm;
- the discomfort does not go away for several days or gets worse;
- you have been diagnosed with a spinal condition such as a herniated disc.
A doctor will tell you whether massage is right for you and what kind. And once Pavel knows about your condition, he will choose a gentle technique or suggest postponing the session. Read more about when to put a massage off in our article on massage contraindications.
