How to prepare for your first massage session

What to bring, when to eat and how to tell the therapist what you need — simple tips for a calm first session.

Your first massage with a new therapist can feel a little unfamiliar: what to bring, how it works, whether you can ask for more or less pressure. Here is how it goes at Serenity.

Before the session

  • Try not to have a heavy meal 1–1.5 hours before — it is easier for the body to relax.
  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early to change and catch your breath.
  • If you have injuries, chronic conditions, are pregnant or have recently been ill, let us know in advance. The therapist will adapt the technique or suggest another date.

What to bring

Nothing special. The studio has disposable slippers and towels, you can take a shower and have tea or water.

During the massage

Speak up if the pressure feels too strong or too light, if you are cold or uncomfortable. Feedback matters — it is your session.

Afterwards

Do not rush to get up: sit for a couple of minutes and drink some water. It is better to skip an intense workout that day and let your body rest.

If you have any questions, message or call us — we are happy to help.
